Hip Hip

Visible to anyone in the world

Hooray.

I actually got my mark while I was on holiday in Parga, Greece in July 2013.

Yes, I passed and was well pleased. The graduation was brilliant, even though I was one of the oldest there, but that just added to it.

I haven't followed up on G09 yet, but this is something I am still considering, but may save it until I have more time when I retire.

I have enjoyed having a lot more time to do other things though!

.......and your done!

Visible to anyone in the world

Well it has been a long time since I last posted on here.

I got my mark for K209.....I passed it, and then started K228 which was a top up for K208 which i completed as the PCEP at Notts Trent Uni.

In Feb 2012 I started K115, which I found a bit difficult at first, but luckily I improved as i progressed, and the passed K115......Hurrah approve

Well that left K116 which I intended on starting this October, as the OU has stopped all February starts, but i would not have qualified for transitional fees, so I continued and started it in October 2012.

Well I finished it last month, and I'm just waiting for EMA result due 19th July, and that will be it then....Completed, finished....the End.....no more and hopefully welcome G09 degree in Youth Justice.....here hoping! cool

Visible to anyone in the world

Well It's "good to be back" I stuck with K209 and my marks improved as my understanding deepened. I am currently in the middle of writing my conclusion for my EMA, so.....Thats nearly it!

Really feel like i have learnt a lot and I am thankful for everyone who helped me along the way.

Problems is I have a top up for K228 starting on 1st October, so no rest for the wicked.......Oh and K115 starts in Feb/Mar 2012 Hey Ho!!

I got my TMA.1 score, I passed but could have/should have done a lot better, so confidence is so low! I have just finished reading Mertons article on Social Structure & Anomie, and feel I may have gone mad.

Am I really that thick, I couldn't understand 90% of it.

This is going to be one hell of a slog! thoughtful

Well I completed TMA.1 on Wednesday Evening (16.03.11) about 11.30pm, which was nice, not sure if it is what's required, but I feel I did as much as I could, and with only TWO words to spare.

It is due for submission by Tuesday 22nd March, so I will have a night out tonight (Happy Friday!) and then check my TMA & referencing tomorrow, and submit it on Sunday!! big grin

Well TMA.1 is due on 22/03/11 and I have finally motivated myself to get stuck in.

Finding it quite difficult at the moment as I don't really have the self belief in myself and am also lacking in confidence.

I have spent nearly 7 hours on this TMA today, and have managed to start and I think I am about a 3rd in.

Hopefully the rest will now follow, and be a bit easier.

Online Tutorial 1

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Russ Owens, Tuesday, 5 Apr 2011, 23:14

Well I have submitted my answers to the first online tutorial, not too sure if it is what Cris will be looking for but it is a start, and hopefully, I will get some feedback & support from the rest of the group to help me through.

I have to admit that when I first started this I was so stressed, and felt so daunted, I still feel daunted by what we have in store, but I also have to admit that I have done my best to keep up with the online schedule and some of it makes a lot of sense to me, and some stuff has also been an eye opener.

At first I when i looked at the termanology, I thought WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT!! but gradually I am learning what some of the "big" words mean, and I am trying to use some of them in my work.

.....anyway, so far so good (I hope!) approve

Here We Go!

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Russ Owens, Tuesday, 5 Apr 2011, 23:15

Well the official start date 12th February is nearly here!, just a noce little night out tomorrow and Liverpool v Wigan on Saturday, and then I will be ready.

Good to see that Cris is my tutor again after the help she gave me doing the PCEP, so that is reassuring.

I just need to get in the right frame of mind and have confidence in my ability, and knuckle down, and I should be ok, as long as I hit the ground running!!

.......any Help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's getting closer

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Russ Owens, Tuesday, 5 Apr 2011, 23:15

Well the materials have arrived this evening, and I think the magnitude of what I have to do, is starting to hit home.

I must admit it is a bit daunting at the moment, but hopefully the tutor days will put me at ease

I really need to focus and concentrate on the task at hand, but it has been so long since I embarked on something like this, that I am going to need all the help I can get, and will take advantage of all the help i m offered.

The Next Step

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Russ Owens, Tuesday, 5 Apr 2011, 23:15

Well, all seems well and everything now seems in order.

I completed my PCEP with NottinghamTrentUniversity, so I am not really Au Fait with the ways of The Open University yet, but colleagues who have previously studies with OU have offered to “Show Me The Way”

One of my colleagues has already studied with the OU in the past and hopefully he will “Hold My Hand”

We will have to devise a plan to sort out our study plan, and to see where we can support each other

“Let The Roller Coaster Ride” begin.

Finally

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Russ Owens, Tuesday, 5 Apr 2011, 23:13

Registration finally completed today.

I arrived in work and found an email form OU dated 23.12.10 saying

“Thank you for returning your sponsorship agreement for K209.  This has now been processed; however we are unable to register you at this stage because we have not received your registration agreement.

So we can complete your registration please call us as soon as possible on 0845 300 60 90. We are open until 8pm today and 8am-3pm on Friday 24th December. We re-open on Tuesday 4th January at 8am.

The closing date for registration is 6th January

That’s all I need! I thought. However after a “quick” phone call to OU (Hanging on in queue for 30 minutes +) everything was in order.

Just the small matter of actually starting in February now, and completing the K209

 Here’s hoping!
