Welcome to these self-assessment questions, designed to help you check that your basic maths skills. 

You may like to look at the suggested sections from the Maths Skills Activity if you need more practice in any area.

The questions are available throughout the year and you may attempt them as many times as you wish. You may attempt the questions in any order, by clicking on the buttons that will appear on the left-hand side of the screen. Most questions allow you three attempts. You will be given a hint about how to proceed after two incorrect attempts and the full answer will be provided after three incorrect attempts.

The questions have been grouped into sections, so you can select the most relevant questions. You may leave the quiz at any time and return to it later.

Although most questions just require you to enter the final answer to a calculation, you will find it helpful to work with a piece of paper, a pen or pencil, and your calculator to hand. You are advised to write out your working as fully as possible, for your own benefit (so you can understand your working if you return to the question at a later stage) and in case you need to contact a study adviser or your tutor for help.

The quiz does not form part of an assessment but you will find it very useful preparation for the mathematical skills that will be built on and assessed in your module. Clicking on 'End test' will give you a summary of what you have done, and the 'View overall feedback' tab will offer advice on revision reading.

Your progress through the test will be stored in the system, so you can leave the test and return on another day if you don't have time to complete it now.
