Access Modules

Access modules provide the perfect introduction to distance learning and studying with The Open University. They're designed to refresh your learning skills and build your self-confidence. You'll also get a broad overview of the subject that interests you.

An Access module is a great place to start if you want a gentle introduction to Open University study. Designed specifically for OU students, it can also help you to find out more about your interests and where you want your learning to take you.

There are three Access modules to choose from, and they start each February and October. They’re always 30 weeks long, and most students study for about nine hours a week. We recommend that you apply early to guarantee your place.

We offer three Access modules, which start in February and October each year.

When you’ve chosen the right Access module for you, simply visit the module page to book your place.

As you register, you’ll get a choice of payment options. You may even be eligible to study your Access module for free.

Study for free

In order to qualify to study an Access module for free you must meet the eligibility criteria that is listed on our website.  To ensure you receive the correct criteria, please select your country of residence when prompted to do so.  Further information about studying an Access module for free can be found at our Access module website.

If after reading the information on Access modules you still have some questions, then please post on this thread.  You must already have an Open University login or be signed up to the forum to post.  You can sign in on the sign in page or you can register to post on the forum on the forum sign up page.
