Credit transfer

I might be interested in a Masters in HR starting in May. I am currently studying CIPD level 5 certificate in learning and development. I have passed 2 units and expect to pass all 5 by March. How many credits is this qualification worth and can I transfer it to OU? I also have two Bachelor Degrees (1991 and 2009).

Hi Helen and thanks for your message.

Any transferred credits would need to be at postgraduate level which is Level 7 on the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) so unfortunately your CIPD course doesn't seem to be at the right level.  It would be best to check this with the Open University Credit Transfer Centre where our advisers will be pleased to help. You can contact them here: http://www.open.ac.uk/study/credit-transfer/

Your degrees will help you to meet the entry requirements for the MSc in Human Resource Management and you will also need relevant work experience.  You can see more here:

http://www.open.ac.uk/postgraduate/qualifications/f68#entry-requirements

As this masters is a specialist Business School qualification our dedicated Open University Business School will be pleased to help if you have any questions about its suitability for your career plans.  You can contact them on 0300 303 7222 or by email at OUBS@open.ac.uk.  They are available Monday to Friday 8am - 5.30pm.
