mental health enquiry/ unsure in general

Hello, I have Ptsd, depression and anxiety and am also on ESA uk benefits. i am currently doing CAT therapy and my therapist is trying to get me to spark an interest in life again by doing something like studying to help myself recover. i am 27, never went to college (aside from funded short six week courses back in 2015) have some GCSES from 2008-2009 but question if they would be out of date by now being 2021.

Funding is also a big issue, but from what i understand i could be eligible for some sort of funding to at least 1 course. also there is a disability section but i am also unsure of how much funding they could help me with as well. I've lost confidence in myself over the years and also have looked into the prospectus and found the access courses section.

I used to be interested in history years ago but as it's been so long i am out of touch i suppose. i have confidence issues talking over the phone and panic a lot. hopefully i won't get a generic answer being on the forums as there's only so much you can answer with i guess.

Hello,

I'm sorry to read about your recent health problems, the university provides support for students who experience problems with their mental health.

Our courses are open entry so you don't need any previous qualifications to study with us. Your GCSEs would not be out of date but, if you have not studied for some time, or studied A-levels we would recommend that you start your studies with an Access module. Those modules have been put in place to help students to build up their study skills before starting a degree level module. Information on Access modules can be found by using the link below:

Access Courses | Preparing for Study | Open University

The funding available to you will depend on which part of the UK you live in. Some students are able to study the Access module for free. Information about that can be found on the link above. General information on fees and funding can be found by using this link:

Fees | Funding | Bursaries | The Open University

Information on disability support can be found by using this link:

It's great to read you are interested in history. Information on our course in this area can be found here:

Q01 | BA (Honours) History | Open University

Information on all courses can be found here: The Open University | Courses and Qualifications

If you want to try some of our courses for free some modules are also available on our Open Learn site. This would give you an idea of what it is like to study with us and may help with your confidence. Here is the link to Open Learn:

I understand you do not feel confident talking on the phone. We offer a webchat service if you would like to talk to one of our advisors. Here is the link for our contact details, if you select the chat option it will put you through to an advisor on the webchat service. Something else | Help Centre | The Open University

I hope this information helps.
