How to get started

Hi I’m just wondering how to get started as I want to do a course on counselling as I would either like to be a counsellor or a psychiatrist

Hi Ciara,

It is great that you are interested in studying with the Open University. As your study is for a career, the first thing I would recommend is doing some careers research and getting advice. A good starting point, with some useful links, is this page from our Help Centre:

https://help.open.ac.uk/how-do-i-become-a

There is also some useful information on the following pages:

There is plenty of time to get the advice about what the right qualification is for your goals, as the next start date for our courses is in October 2022. Registrations are open now, but are due to close on 8 September.

If you would like to speak to one of our student recruitment advisors about your options, or to register, you can call us on 0300 303 5303, Monday to Friday, 8:00-17:30.
