Counselling

I am an adult nurse with a diploma. I want to study counselling as at 57 I want to do something worthwhile. I have a student loan from my diploma that I am still paying off. 

Can I still apply for a student loan at this age and with a 3 year student loan for the diploma I took out in 2004/07? I think I may struggle paying the £3000 plus a year at present.

Thanks for your message.

Our Foundation Degree in Counselling (X09) is a Level 5 qualification. If your Nursing Diploma is also a Level 5 qualification you may not be eligible for a part-time tuition fee loan for it as you usually have to be working towards a qualification which is at a higher level than what you have already been awarded. It would be best to ask Student Finance for where you live (e.g. Student Finance England, Wales etc) about this.

The CPCAB elements of the Foundation Degree are offered by different training providers so you would need to contact your local CPCAB course provider to check their fees and payment methods. There is more about this here:
