Switching to full time OU

I will be starting OU this year as a part-time undergrad student as I have applied for a full time job to be able to fund my time at OU, however this means I will only be completing 60 credits this year of my Accounting and Finance BSc.

I am planning to switch to full time OU next october, and am wondering whether this is an available option, because if I switch to full time I will be completing 60 credits from stage 1 of the course, and a further 60 credits from stage 2 (to bring it up to 120 credits).

Is this something that can be arranged and will work? Or will I be required to complete the remaining 60 credits from stage 1 before switching to full time?

Hi Juwariah,

You can generally change your study intensity year-on-year, depending on the seasonal academic year in which your study falls and the presentations in the year in which your modules run. If you are successful in 60 credits of study at Stage 1, you may generally go on to study Stage 2 alongside your remaining Stage 1 credits, unless the study at Stage 2 has pre-requisite Stage 1 study which much be completed first. We can refer you to a Senior Adviser in the Business and Management Student Support Team to discuss this, if you contact us through one of the contact details on the ‘Contact Us’ section of The Open University website, or by visiting: https://www.open.ac.uk/contact/

Best wishes,

Neems
