Student Loan

Hi

Im 47 and looking to start a Bsc degree with OU would I still be entitled to student loan if I am unemployed.

Would the same terms apply for repayment after I earn a certain amount. Would this be paid after I finish my degree or would I need to pay whilst studying if I start work

Thanks

Hi Pardeep,

It is great that you are considering studying with The Open University. You can take a look at the undergraduate courses that we offer here:

http://www.open.ac.uk/courses/atoz

If you live in England, then yes the funding would be through a Part-Time Tuition Fee Loan, and the repayments would start when your salary exceeds the income threshold, currently £25,000. Additionally, the repayments will not start until:

 * the April four years after the start of the student's qualification, or

 * the April after the student leaves the University, or

 * the April after they complete their qualification

– whichever is soonest.

You can explore this payment method in more detail here:

If you live in a different nation, you can explore your funding options with the Finance Finder on this page:
