Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. As you have studied at another
institution previously, you may be able to count this study towards an Open
University qualification through a process called credit transfer. To be
eligible for credit transfer your previous study must be equivalent to higher education
level (level 4 and above) and completed in the last 16 years in order to be
considered (and depending on your choice of qualification these time scales may
be shorter). Information on credit transfer can be found on the link below:
https://credit-transfer.open.ac.uk/
To check whether your previous study can potentially be counted towards a
qualification with us, you can use our previous study finder. I have included a
direct link for this tool below:
http://www.open.ac.uk/study/credit-transfer/my-previous-study
After checking your previous study, you can then download the credit transfer
application form which you need to fill out and email back to us. Please find a
direct link to the application form below:
http://www.open.ac.uk/study/credit-transfer/how-to-apply
It’s free to apply for credit transfer and you are under no obligation to study
with us. Nothing is taken away from your previous study – the purpose of credit
transfer is simply to reduce the amount of time it will take you to gain a
qualification, and reduce the overall cost. At this stage we cannot say if any
credits could be transferred, you would need to make an application.
If you are planning to start your studies in October 2025, the final date for credit transfer applications is 14th August 2025.
Should you have any questions on the process please don't hesitate to contact our credit transfer team at credit-transfer@open.ac.uk or by calling them on 01908 653077 (Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00). Best wishes!
