I was viewing a writer's website earlier and noticed all these gradiose quotes by various writers about the art of writing...
Thought I should have one of my own on my website too:
Writing is like having a crap: Sometimes it's fast and furious and sometimes it's slow and painful, but either way it's probably better out than in...
Whaddaya reckon? much better than that ol' tosspot Wordsworth's mawkish drivel, ennit?

David you are going to get Bard for swearing. Which would be a pity as you're very interesting and funny.New comment
More blogs like this, please, serious & flippant in one.New comment
Blimey - all those HOOOGE blog posts I make and this little bit of belly-button fluff gets three responses!
You'll find lots more flippant stuff in the back pages of my blog - some serious, some rather less serious...
Knocked out a short story I'm quite pleased with this morning for an upcoming compermertitionition...
If it comes in anywhere i'll bung it up when the compermertitionition is all done and dusted, but it was nice to work on something other than poxy OU essays and my blog for a change.

You got responses because what you wrote was brilliant and concise. The art of writing is the art of cutting the fat.
We can all state how we feel, the trick is to get others to listen.

Personally, I'm a bit of a 'chubby chaser'...
Fat's good too - try cooking without it and what you get is a very tough and dry ol' turkey!
Writing groups are full of tutors preaching the 'cut the fat' catechism, but most of them take it completely out of context. It's an inverted Cantism - 'It's in the textbook therefore it is' -
Love the fat, go on, you know you want to, LOVE it!
