Laurence & Alex; new photo - same pizza…

Visible to anyone in the world

… and without much persuasion, both son and gf  were happy to eat at Pizza Express (PE) for lunch on Saturday (31st May) having ‘coached it’ from Cardiff on Friday eve.

I caught up with them close to Workshop Coffee (Wigmore st.) where we all enjoyed some of the best coffee around and I’ve even converted Laurence to ‘taking the Espresso’!!

As well as the Cult of Done (v.16) espresso that I had a little earlier, we both then had the Colombian Espresso whilst Alex chose an Americano. This info is from their web-site:

“…Miguel Augusto Ortega, grows both Caturra and Castillo varieties on his modestly-sized farm of 5 1/2 hectares, and is able to keep the two lots separate at all stages of production. It is the yellow and red Caturra varieties lot that we have brought to the UK to release as this espresso. Impeccable in its management and presentation, Finca Asturias is testament to the hard work that Miguel puts in…”

SO, a good start to a Saturday lunch-time and after a wander around the Marylebone area, we headed on down to the Pizza Express in Bruton Place at around 14:00 - again, providing the very good PE experience! This is still the PE of choice, with most others having had some off-days recently.  After pizza (although I was the only one that actually had a pizza...) there was time for a quick pose for the camera (taken by Alex) whilst walking back to Bond Street tube. I left them at this point, with Alex looking for ‘something different’ from where ever ‘something different’ can be found - I suggested Camden Market, but that’s only because I vaguely know about it. Anyway, I have put the resultant (cropped) photo as my profile pic, for now…

Later that evening, they would be at Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa restaurant near St. Paul’s - where a table had been booked - not bad for 'poor' students!

Meanwhile, there are, of course, other PE places to go and I’m now tempted to try the Langham Place one later this month. Interestingly, I recently found out that Workshop Coffee are opening a new coffee bar in Mortimer Street which just happens to be close by the Langham Place PE - lucky! Although Langham Place has been a PE option for quite a few months now, a ‘Fine Colombian’ (or equivalent...) close by only adds to the attraction. If it wasn't for the Bruton Place PE being quite so good, I expect that this one would have been tried sooner!

Having posted off my MU123 EMA last week,  things are a little more relaxed for me than of late and although I have the next iCMA for M140 to tackle now, I have been enjoying the relaxing sounds of The African Marketplace (1985) by Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) for the past week. Not doing so much with the orchestral stuff at the mo and I even play mostly jazz items when I get my trumpet out - just keeping in trim, you understand?

All the best Espresso (Guy)
