today i'm proud of my country...

Visible to anyone in the world

And by my country I mean Britain. We managed to have a debate, and a referendum, over something that in other places would have involved bullets, killings and centuries of hate and rage. We've shown the world how 'grown-ups' settle their problems: with words, respect for one another and humour.

Things will have to change, I think that we all know that. But today just be incredably proud that we live in a country where fairness, tolerance and fellow-feeling are the norm ratrher than something to be aspired to.

Well done us!

Scotland say's No

Following an invigorating and long campaign the Scottish people as a whole, including those who are not of Scottish birth have spoken. It is 311 years since those who formed the Scottish Parliament of the day brought the union of Parliaments into being. Those same people sold the Scots down the river literally accepting monies in turn for their agreement to unite the parliaments. In contrast the modern inhabitation of Scotland, has universally spoken to retain the status-quo. Clearly Scotland retains it's historical tolerance for all colours and creeds from where any where stills stands true and tall. I have been a nationalist all my life, today I am sad but yet hopeful of a stronger and more social nation. Tolerance is a Scottish nation, we must maintain our tolerance and bring all inhabitants of Scotland together for the furtherance of our great nation and our children's future. The day's of fighting ended on the battlefield of Culloden and must remain there in history, we must debate peacefully and move forward's for our and subsequent generations sakes. Scotland has sent a powerful message to the world at large, we say to the world as a whole that peaceful debate is the only way forward. One other vitally important aspect of Scotland's referendum was the manner in which the youth of Scotland from the age of 16 yrs of age reacted. The Youth of Scotland acted responsibly more so than anyone could have imagined. We should be exceptionally proud of our youth and indeed the whole of the Scottish populace. Today I am sad at the result yet happy and proud of the manner Scottish in which the people of this great NATION. Robin Wright AL

Hi Bob

I thought that you put that very well.

I know it sounds silly but I really do think that we've won in a way. We've shown that people can change this society that we had seemed to be stuck with. We're down just now but I think that in a few weeks  time we'll become aware what a marvellous thing this was.
