Forums

Visible to anyone in the world

Well it's started already!

The course has not yet started yet people are already worried about using the forums to share ideas with fellow students.

I liken it to a coffee shop, without the expensive coffee, where a group of friends sit around to chat and share ideas. Just because it's on-line shouldn't make it scary, yet for some people it does.

I'm left to ponder why should that be?

Is it the fear of cyber crime? Or is it simply the fear of the unknown?

What's your thoughts on using the forums?

Hi

Yes I agree, forums can be a bit of drain on time, and can become a source of bitchy comments. I happened to be on the end of such comments last year. But hey I'm a grown-up I have taken worse in my life, than a few barbed words on a very limited access forum.

One thing I would say is please think before you post, as not everyone is as strong as I am. You are playing with another persons feelings.

You do not have that right to make anyone feel bad.

There maybe things going in their life which you have no idea of, and such comments could be the final straw.

At college (a few years ago,) a fellow student was on the end of  bitchy comments posted on the college blog, she was found dead the next day.
