What's the difference between a walnut loaf and a whole octopus?

Visible to anyone in the world

So far I've resisted the temptation to do my supermarket shopping online. Some of the stories of online shopping over Christmas have further convinced me that it's better to do one's shopping in person. My favourite cautionary tale involves a Tesco customer who ordered a walnut loaf and received instead a whole octopus.  It worries me that someone who sees little difference between an octopus and a walnut loaf is at loose in society and possibly driving a car.

Last night my wife and brother in law recounted between them all the things they've got in error ... it was like a comedy double act seeing who could out do the other. The greatest laugh came from my brother in law who ordered a 'Thunderbolt cable for his Mac' and instead got a 'Motorhead coffee mug' ?!

That's hilarious. At least they saw the funny side.

I do most of my online shopping with Amazon and eBay and so far they have been pretty efficient. The outlets that deal with fresh food and probably the one most likely to come up with bizarre substitutions.

Hopefully the police would arrive with 4 pairs of handcuffs in case it resisted arrest.

The Sunday Times Wine Club once sent me two cases of wine instead of one. When I telephoned them they let me keep the second case for half price. As you say, not always bad.
