I wonder what it's for?!

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by ROSIE Rushton-Stone, Sunday, 5 Dec 2010, 11:14

Have never thought to use this in all the years that I've studied with the OU.  It seems to me that it serves no purpose, in that I don't know anyone here, so no one will read this other than me.  I guess I could use it to remind myself about randoms that I might forget, though post-it notes serve me pretty well for that.  I have an impending assignment that really deserves my attention, more than this new discovery.  At least I have tried something new today.  I might keep this up through December, just to see what comes of it, as I really really do not understand what it's all about.  Or maybe I should google it when the assignment has slowed my neuronal activity to a point that it seems to be an interesting idea.  This message is so full of uncertainty and confusion that I almost want to do my googling immediately, but, no, it must wait.  I have to write the assignment.  And so to it.

Oh, hang on, options lower down include visible to anyone in the world... well let's see what, if anything, happens...

well suprise! I think these blogs are like messages in a bottle or tying a feeling or worry to a balloon and letting it go...... in other words they are a form of release........ anonomously..... so we dont feel a sense that people judge us from knowing who we are ....... go girl gobig grin

Wow that is amazing.  I don't understand how you knew to look and then to reply.  I am stunned.

I've just read it! A journal can serve many purposes, whether online or off. Here you can offer your thoughts to fellow OU students, the world or keep it private. Either way you can seach your entries, store and download them. For some OU courses evidence of blogging is required ... it also becomes an extension of forum discussions where you can say what you like and as much as you like.

i didnt know to look ...sometimes the randomness of coincidence can be quite unique or maybe we just call it fate.... ps have a good xmas

I felt the same way about this blog stuff

Hi Rosie

Your probably right about the blogs but if people make the effort to get in touch and read your stuff it an opportunity to widen your social contacts (so they say) ive never been on here for such a long time because i got disheartened by te whole thing and course work just took over. but im planning to start again now im on a break until the end of January.

My blog is like a silly running commentary of my day but what the heck and then i lost interest in it. I may start again

Hello Tom! (and hello Jonathon from earlier)...

It's nice to still be getting the odd comment.  I think a silly running commentary as you say, is the best way.  I have started following a few people on here, and that has kept my interest levels up.  I find the whole process quite interesting actually.  What is it that makes me post?  Couldn't tell you!  I'm glad that you're deciding to start back up, the more the merrier, and the more people who put things up for me to read, the better I understand what this is all about.  Although it does seem that most people choose to keep it private, which is fair enough, but I quite like the fact that anyone is able to contest anything that I may say, or agree of course!

Enjoy your break from study anyway smile
