Ha, on a good day. My intelligence seems to be highly variable! My IQ fluctuates by about 15 points, and only once passing the 150 mark, not that I consider it a particularly logical tool to measure intelligence. I happen to be very good at the puzzles involved. Can't learn French though...
Nothing wrong with the French... I popped over for an hour when staying with a friend near the border, to buy some chocolate gifts and was able to purchase a large chocolate asparagus. Respect where respect's due.
I thought it was a particularly cool and unusual Easter gift. My mother thought I was just trying to be irritating. Thrown back in my face as always. The good news being that I got to eat it, and it was most delicious!
Sorry that was remiss of me, I should never have judged your mother like that! You know that there is nothing as queer as families. I've got a Bi-polar older sister plus I have my own addiction issues (not substance or gambling however). So what I mean is; we all have shit, we just need to try and get our heads round it all.
As for Chocolate asparagus: no, it's just too weird!
I didn't have a reaction to your comment about my mother. I've heard far worse. If you were "linked" you'd know why. There are a lot of mental health issues running through my family as well. The only difference with my mother is that she believes she is perfection itself. You can't make much progress with someone like that.
I had got my head around it all - too well apparently - and am now having my whole childhood rewritten by my dad and step-dad, thousands of long-buried memories emerging and not particularly nice ones at that. I had no idea how much I'd blanked out. It's relatively frightening at the moment, and I'm not easily scared by the psychological stuff!
Heidelberg is famous for making printing presses. Or maybe the castle? Not too sure now, though I think the same as you. Something, definitely. It has a very old University as well.

No I suppose not, the french that is.
Where were you Belgium?
Your mother doesn't sound like a very nice person if you don't mind me saying although chocolate asparagus does sound very odd indeed.

I was in Germany. Heidelberg. My friend did a year of her physics degree over there. We caught the train over to France to get some cheese. Cool.
Chocolate asparagus, hmm, who cares about the shape?!
I'm trying to reach your conclusion about my mother. It's a work in progress. She is a real life Aunt Sally, coincidentally.
