"I’ve had the very BEST of afternoons. My mate picked me up, and we drove off in the direction of Winchcombe, as we are prone to doing if we have any length of free time. There are a lot of pubs we enjoy in the area. We arrived and parked outside the town and started on a hike up to Belas Knap. I haven’t actually been there before, and was under the impression we were walking to ruins of some description. What we were actually walking to was a giant mound of grass within which, according to the wooden plaque, once held hostage vast numbers of children and adults. I know not why… I should find out. Apparently large numbers of skeletons were found in various chambers. My mate liked it. I was less impressed. I’m a bit funny about skeletons to be honest. Dead people are okay, and tombs are okay. But people out in the open rotting until they are just bones, is less okay. Maybe it’s just me and my graphic novel of a thought process.
It was a long walk though and for the most part it was very scenic and enjoyable, if not a little sweaty and staggery. The mound was enjoyable too. It was just a bit spooky. I have to admit, there was one chamber which you had to crawl into, and we both thought it would make an excellent sleeping spot if you found yourself homeless. Better to sleep there with a friend though I would say, as the place must be rife with ghosts. If I was alone, I’d choose an empty car-park for sure. Away from the woods, and away from the skeletons. Although I did sleep up a tree, once upon a time, but only for a few days."
You know you don't have to fill me in; although I do greatly apreciate it, as I actually enjoy trying to put together the abstract comments into a story that would explain and contain them. Having said that I do love a burial mound and one that suggests captivity and human sacrifices, wow! We have The Rollright Stones here and so many cairns and burial chambers that there is practically one in every farmers field.
No, you need to let the dirt really build-up, i'd say at least a week camping, ten-days better. I've got a canoe I take on extended camping trips, canoe-camping (it's me!) so I love poohing in holes, washing in rivers, cooking over an open fire all that stuff. So when you do finally take a bath/shower you really 'colour' the water.

Ha, no, I know... that was just a snippet.
Sometimes things like skeletons need explaining! Ha ha.
We were actually looking for an ancient villa, but we never found it. Next time maybe.

Going on Holiday?New comment
No, don't really do holidays.
Though I did tell my Uncle I'd be on a plane to him the following morning whilst drunk. And he believed me.
I don't even have a passport. Although, now I have my father back in my life I might actually be able to sort one. Woohoo!
I'm more of a weekend person, festivals, hill-walking, camping... few days, and then home. To wash.
Ha ha!
