Visible to anyone in the world

What are your own experiences with respect to the use of technologies: at home, at work, for learning or for leisure?

I confess to having been a Luddite in the past, partly to do with the stigma of computers being 'nerdish' and partly due to the cost of technology. I still object to peer pressure to update my mobile phone when I have one that works fine as it is, though I'm sure I'll be converted if I buy an iphone.

I was given a word processor when I was at university and I used a book to teach myself all the short cuts - I suppose that's a bit like learning programming - a waste of time?

How has your interaction with technologies changed?

My biggest learning curve has been due to the need to work with technology. I have learned through need, rather than desire, but now, like many, I am addicted to social networking for the pure psychological gratification of having something in my inbox.

Where would you position yourself on the spectrum of optimists vs. pessimists with respect to technologies?

I am fully converted to the point of being 'evangelical' about the benefits of the internet for learning. Hallelulia!
