Couldn't agree more with your comment that learning goes out of the door when marks are on offer. I had to rush through the last part of one of my complex analysis TMA's as I got bogged down so resorted to the tactic of just skimming the last part of the material working backwards from the TMA to the information I needed. Not conducive to learning but needs must.

Yes, it's funny what a spur marks are. I pretend to myself that they don't matter, and yet they always do!
So I've changed my methodology [for maths]—do the TMA as I work through the units. Seems to keep me on task and straight. We'll see...
