horror!

That was unpleasant. Today I’ve spent eight hours, drank a litre of red bull and hurt my mind struggling to get my TMA done. I posted it four-thirty of the pm. [Real-posted as opposed to virtual, maths is retro..] What lessons have been learned?

None, I’d guess.

That was the most shameful cobbled-together peices of tripe that I’ve ever submitted. Because it was analysis, and I knew the answers, there’s a slight chance that I won’t suffer as much as I should, but I hope that I fail this one. I should. There’s no way that I should be able to have not done an entire unit and still do a TMA solely from an [inspired?] cribbing of the answers to the exercises.

I’m not sure that, at bottom, I want to fail, but there’s a large part of me who thinks that it would be a good idea if I did. I deserve a lesson in not getting into this sorry-state ever again.

The horror is that I may, just, get away with this—I sicken myself.

Hey, you are beating yourself up...that's harsh punishment.. So, you don't need to receive a fail on top to stop feeling 'underserving'. (bet you passed well in any case) So, chin up tomorrow, as Scarlet would say, tomorrows another day! Should remember that myself at times... smile

I agree with Emily you'll be able to catch up with all the details that you missed when it comes to revision, you had a lot on your plate, so it's hardly surprising that you took some obvious shortcuts. Also it's not our fault if the setters of the TMA's set questions which are extremely similar to the examples to the text.

For Analysis you have to start just by learning the ABC so for a first introduction just being able to use the rules is a start.

How many of our lecturers when confronted with the Blancmange function for example could show that it is continuous but nowhere differentiable without reference to notes or a textbook.

See ya at the tutorial

Best wishes mate.

Thanks Emily/Chris

I was probably a wee bitty strong there wink I am annoyed with myself—I know better than to allow myself to get into this position. So I decided to give myself a good talking to!

What worries me is that I won't get as bad a mark as I deserve and that I'll be tempted to wing it again.

Anyhoo, on to lovely Groups, see you next Saturday Chris.

You do maths Neil? Well I am sure you could explain to me the thing (law?) about diminishing returns? Your post made me remember a time I was well overdue for a tma...there was a substitute option on that course but I decided to write the essay in one day and see what happened. Well, I only referenced two course chapters and just sort of freely bashed out the essay. And, I only got 10% less marks than my final OCAS! The first marks are the easiest to hit that's for sure! But, anyway, next assignment, you should work your ass off! smile
