Fair comment I think you should have made some recommendations for reading. Mine would be Brannan's book on analysis (change the record) Like you a couple of weeks before I've been working night and day at work. I will publish my thoughts on M208 after next weekend. I suspect my thoughts will probably be a bit more descriptive of content than yours so the two reviews should complement each other nicely.
Cheers hope to get back to the real world after next week.
As to books my favourite was Pure Maths by Hardy, but that might be because I had it! I'm going to be hitting it hard soon, I need to some serious maths before February.
M208 was a wee bit of a missed opportunity for me, that isn't going to happen again. Next time I'm going to clear my, mental, decks, and buckle down to some proper work. At the proper time.
Yes I should invest in Hardy and also Hardy and Wright on number theory. My reccomendation of Brannan is a pragmatic/utilitarian one for those wanting an idea of what M208 contains and as about the most user friendly book on analysis that I know of.
Hopefully we can meet up with Duncan for a drink sometime in November
