My father & his friend went to the opening ceremony of the 1948 Olympics, the 'austerity games'.
Saw the torch processing to some fire god ceremony.
Ken turned to my father and said, 'Of course Greeno, you know it's all bollocks'.
Aparently that torch lit thingy was thought up by the Nazi's for the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It's our fault we kept the 'tradition' alive. [That's if you think yourself a 'Brit' ].
I'm having to go to London on Monday. Not looking forward to it.
