Oui.
Funny everyone knows about the decapitation of the nobs, and possibly that of 16 nuns, but not about the thousands killed in the mass drownings of prisoners and mass executions of people by shooting squad. Finding out why we know what we do and don't would probably make for an interesting bit of research.
It's odd what we'll do to one another, and what we'll tolerate and even participate in, and every time a massacre happens, we act surprised like it never happened before.
At the risk of being topical and political as well as morbid, it gives me the willies when a politician says we need to be shot of the European Court of Human Rights and the Human Rights Act because they are a hindrance to what needs to be done. We had those things put in place to protect us from politicians doing whatever they think needs to be done.
