So now my work is done for this week, albeit by 5pm on a sunday afternoon.

I can share some more satire.

This one is another Trump one, he really is brewing up a storm..

Trump e-petition?

Have you seen the e-petition?

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/171928

750,000 votes on the first day.  Not bad.

Prevent Donald Trump from making a State Visit to the United Kingdom.

Donald Trump should be allowed to enter the UK in his capacity as head of the US Government, but he should not be invited to make an official State Visit because it would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen.

More details

Donald Trump's well documented misogyny and vulgarity disqualifies him from being received by Her Majesty the Queen or the Prince of Wales. Therefore during the term of his presidency Donald Trump should not be invited to the United Kingdom for an official State Visit.

Hi Simon.

I think trump should come. It might help re-educate him.

Expose him to the duties of state on a foriegn shore might help him reconsider his ways.

Plus we can sit him down with as many socialists as we can and see if it reinforms him.

He has made it clear that he rejects their ideas and methodology. More visits will not change his way of thinking. Look at what he has done in his first week, through his whole campaign, through his entire career. He has always made himself clear in his books, one of which has an entire chapter on revenge.

Another visit will only show acceptance and validation of his horrific policies and acts.  Wavering allows the atrocities to continue. People are dying. Families are being torn apart. Why is there any question of waiting, entertaining, or struggling to comprehend what he and his movement are about? The message is clear, we allow them to take over or allow ourselves to be destroyed.

"And so, I established in 1919 a programme and tendency that was a conscious slap in the face of the democratic-pacifist world (…) [We knew] it might take five or ten or twenty years, yet gradually an authoritarian state arose within the democratic state, and a nucleus of fanatical devotion and ruthless determination formed in a wretched world that lacked basic convictions.

Only one danger could have jeopardised this development – if our adversaries had understood its principle, established a clear understanding of our ideas, and not offered any resistance. Or, alternatively, if they had from the first day annihilated with the utmost brutality the nucleus of our new movement."

Hi karen.

A state visit is not solely a validation of trumps policies.  It is a state visit by our nato partner, the percieved country of the free and one of our longest standing international partners. The US elected trump in a democratic election. His idiocy weakens their very democracy, as do the protests. The russian influence also weakens their democracy. Should we add to the threats to US democracy by stopping a state visit?

To simply refuse access does not solve or help to defuse the threats to the democracy that elected trump.

As much as it might try us, our relations with the US last more deeply than one president.

Did we shut down relations with the US during the Macarthy hearings?

The whole situation is far more complex and nuanced than e-petitions and protests can cover. The protests, media and petitions are less likely to influence trump than direct access by our diplomats.

As for the Hitler quotes, would you have us act in a military way to the US ?
