Well that was heart breaking... it took Croatia till 10 minutes into the second half to work out our game plan... once they had, it was heart ache all the way.
Still England gave us quite a ride at this world cup...we thank them for sparking hope within us.

Yesterday evening I went out into the garden to fetch the recycling crate (I put the fallen branches and twigs in it for the neighbours to burn on their wood stove) and the couple next door were watching the TV at their garden table.
"Watching the match?" asked Mrs Neighbour.
Before I could speak Mr Neighbour suddenly sat up and "Wha? Eh? Yes, of course I am." He had been totally asleep. "Are they still playing?"
"Not you, fool" said Mrs Neighbour, "Simon."
"Who's playing?" I asked.
"Croatia."
"Against France or Belgium?"
"Us."
"Us? England? Are we playing?"
Can't say I was too bothered.
That's the nice thing about being English and in my 50s. I grew up with England being crap at every sport (except tug-o-war, of course), so I'm not disappointed when they're crap now. I grew up believing it is not about the winning, it is about taking part and playing by the rules.

So Simon,
if i read your comment correctly, the bloke who lives next door to you is called;
Mr Fool Neighbour
That's an interesting moniker!!!
Yes taking part and playing by the rules are important however....
To quote Sean Connery in that modern classic piece of cinema... The Rock ( starring Nick Cage- not Dwayne Johnson)
Stanley Goodspeed (Nic Cage) ' I’ll do my best.'
John Mason (Connery) ' Your “best”! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fcuk the prom queen'
