Best movie ever

Visible to anyone in the world

Just watched Groundhog day on Dave. There is a split in our house. Ella and I love the film. We think it is the best film ever, and watch it together whenever it is on. Ros, James and William think it is a good film, but can't understand why Ella and I love it so much and are happy to watch it again.

Do any of you share my and Ella's opinion, that Groundhog day is the best film ever made?

Groundhog Day got a mention on local radio last week when someone said they thought it one of the funniest films ever made.  Do I like it?  No.  It got on my tits.  Possibly because of its pseudo-religious post-death implications of limbo-until-you-become-good or reincarnation, but mostly because it is tedious and predictable.

And even more annoying is the way brain-dead journalists refer to Groundhog Day over here as if it is a real thing, and that it even applies in the UK.  Just how thick are these people?

Sorry if that was the wrong answer.  But if it was, all the other people who contacted the radio station also struggled with the person who thought it hilarious.

But then, I think It's a Wonderful Life is the most trite and depressing suicide film ever produced and I would have banned it.  It brings back everything about my own depression and genuinely makes me feel suicidal - it's the ending that makes it so awful.  If he had just lost his bottle, shrugged his shoulders, said "Bollocks", shuffled off and got pissed it would at least have been worthy of broadcasting.

There are no wrong answers Simon!

I think Ella and i like groundhog day because it appeals to our autistic tendancies, the repetition is engaging.  Ella is very fond of when Phil robs the cash truck by counting out all the little events leading up to just reaching in and pulling out a bag of money. Both Ella and i like a list....

I am no fan of ' it's a wonderful life' there is something about Jimmy Stewart that makes me want to put my fist through any screen he appears on.

Now, although it may seem I'm being argumentative for the sake of it, I like Jimmy Stewart.

He is in that cadre of actors who can only play one role: themselves.  There's him, Michael Caine, Meryl Streep and Sean Connery: whoever the are playing, they play themselves.

I think his best role was that he played in The Shootist, also John Wayne's greatest role.  John Wayne being another actor that could only play himself.

I'd give links and photos but I keep losing my connection.

Hi Simon.

We should include Sean Connery on the list of actors who always play themselves.

I like Meryl Streep...

I'm not a fan of her at all.

Hmm.  It says something we have such different taste in entertainment, yet have a mutual loathing of that which we have chosen to forget!

Thats cool,

I would always watch Meryl, she is a honey.
