A walk in the country with a friend

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Monday, 24 Jan 2022, 11:37

This morning it looked sunny but when I got outside, I soon felt very cold. I had arranged to meet my friend Sally for an outdoor activity of walking across the field( according to the rules we can meet up with one other person) I had a free day as I was up to date with ema research and almost finished taking notes.

I met my friend 👩‍🦱Sally outdoors and we were socially distanced.  She was pleased to go for a walk but she is even more out of condition than I am! and quite a few years older too! She told me she needed a good walk she only ever walks in the town. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️
"Don't you go too fast I know you!"
She laughed.

The first field we crossed seemed very long, way longer than I had remembered. She was out of breath and we had to stop half way.  "You ok? " I ask "I'm ok but where can we sit?" She replied.
"The next field" I told her "Sorry it's not too far now!" she tutted a bit but carried on determinedly. I pointed out the wild primroses, forget - me -nots, cellandines and bluebells. She replied "there are so many bluebells this year it's amazing!"
"Yes they are prolific" I answer. She is really a townie (like me) but loves nature and flowers, She has a beautiful garden. "This is going to be a good walk for us" I say laughing. She laughs a bit nervously "yes, I already feel a lot warmer with the activity." She panted.

The second field and I found the tree stump and covered it with one of my knitted shawls because she had her  posh clothes on. She was out of breath and I admit so was I and ready for a sit down.
Then suddenly she says "oh isn't this lovely!" She looks about and she can hear the sheep 🐑in the field nearby. She smiles and closes her eyes as she has never been very often in a field except on holiday.  We picked a few wild flowers to take home with us.⚘🌾🌼🌺💐

There was a slight breeze and a misty haze as the sun tried to shine through the clouds. Birds 🕊sing and a bumble 🐝bee is very close by buzzing busily around on a patch of bluebells. 🦋After a long rest and a drink we continue walking again. She now looked more rested. On the way she told me her life story which was very interesting. She ran a small business ran a business with her husband but they had to sell it.  Now they are both on their pensions and they have had to downsize on their home.

We reached the little village but I told her"There is not a lot to see here, it's only a hamlet with a few houses 🏘a church ⛪no shops but there is a lovely stream 🏞with a bridge"  🛤she nods "That sounds good" she said.

We reached the stream and go across the bridge very carefully!
Following the path alongside the stream, we then veered to the left that leads to the long stretch of woods, 🌳🌲🌳there you can sometimes see deer! 🦌but we didn't  see any today. From there, we could see that we were almost back to our village, just a small field to go across. She looks at me and begins to laugh "what's so funny?" I ask her "you have rosy cheeks!" I laugh too "So do you" I reply. "That was good we must do it again sometime!" And she nodded enthusiastically.
