Sussex University. Incentive and jabs.

Visible to anyone in the world

Having heard this morning that Sussex university is offering cash incentive draws  to  lucky students who have been doubled jabbed , l question the moral attitude of the university ?  Money, 'bling bling'  .Surely that can cause divisions between students. This is meant to be a place of education, what kind of signal are we giving out to students, ?  Surely the institution could  use a better means  if they wish to promote double jabbing  such as rent being paid for the student for the term or the year, tuition fees for a year, anything that would go to enhance education.

If  students wish to be at university then  anything that would alleviate the costs would surely  be more  beneficial then just handing  out cash. Cash prize jackpot offered for double-jabbed students - BBC News

Where is the money coming from to payout the students ?

Hi Hédé,

The anti -Vaxers have had a bad influence on everyone so less uptake for the vaccine from younger people and their parents.

Some people who were against the Vaccine are now falling ill with Covid19. My son's young friend caught Covid19  before she was due for the jab. She was very poorly and had to be hospitalized and put on a ventilator. She has since recovered but it was a scary time! Hope she doesn't have long covid!

It is a pity we have to bribe young people  they should use their common sense and see how this could affect their future health !

I don't think Boris sets the young people a good example he didn't want to isolate when members of his cabinet had covid!

Hi Gill,

I hope that she has a good recovery.

It is a difficult and an emotive issue, however l think they could be alternatives to cash incentives.

I do agree with the comment you made about Boris, no example given so the attitude is such.

How little foresight we have when it comes to the up and coming generation again the subject of treat them like a commodity, 'bung them some cash and that way they will comply' how sad.

I agree. The university could have offered book vouchers! that would send a better message than just handing out cash.
