National Insurance different perspective.

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Hede Maria Cavell, Friday, 4 Feb 2022, 17:04

Having had a conversation with my partner this morning regarding National Insurance, l wondered if it was society that had become complacent in regard to National Insurance .

What is the difference between the private  insurance companies and  government run insurance ?

  • Both are meant to pay out if required.
  • .Both assess, to make sure that it is a legitimate claim.
  • Both do not like paying out !
Do we understand what happens to that money that is paid in each month?

Both use other peoples' money to payout, however, when buying insurance from private companies you are informed and have a choice to look for the best deal that suits your needs and circumstances, but do we give it the same thought when it comes to paying National Insurance ?

Do we not pay much attention to the money paid in for National Insurance ? Is it because it is taken at source and we assume that when we require it, will automatically be there for us ? Or is it the thought that it's compulsory and 'who cares anyway ?'

Are we the one's that have not been educated enough to understand and therefore have become complacent to certain finances?

Do we feel that as National Insurance is compulsory and is taken at source, we have become complacent in thinking that the government knows what is best, and what they are doing and therefore, we will get the best return for our money ? Or is it a case that we  really do not have a say and there for have to, 'grin and bear it'? If the latter why?

Should we be more responsible and  question  before we cast our votes to protect this investment?

Having watched these two documentaries, l feel that scheduling these programmes on BBC2 at prime time (9pm on Tuesday nights) the BBC is hiding away from  topical  issues that are very relevant  and informative to society at present.
