The Queens Jubilee week coming up!

Visible to anyone in the world

All this week at the shops in the little village where I live, there is a bit of a buz going on, as they are putting up all the decorations for the Queen's 70 years jubilee.

There are flags, buntings and balloons in red white and blue, there is also going to be a picnic in the park in the week of the Queens jubilee. People are putting up flags in their front windows and there is a feeling of celebration slowly building up around the village.

My friend has put a huge picture of the Queen up in her front window. Others in the village have planted flowers of red, white and blue to show their support.

I always remember at school when I was young,  my class mates and I waiting around for hours at the school gate, in the cold with our little flags, excitedly waiting for just a glimpse of the Queen as she came slowly past in the Royal car and visited the town where I lived.

It was such a momentous occasion for us young children but I also remember, being just a child,  feeling a bit disappointed that the Queen was not wearing her Royal crown!  However, she looked very elegant and beautiful in a salmon pink suit and hat to match,  as she cut the ribbon and and announced the opening of the New Sports centre in our town.

The Sports Centre went on to feature throughout my childhood life. That sports centre was the place where I first learned to swim with the school, where I enjoyed the fun and experience of ice skating with my friends and family, and where I went bowling as a teen.

It was always a  great treat to go there from time to time,  because my parents were not very well off,  so it was usually a very special occasion and one that I always thoroughly enjoyed!

Congratulations to the Queen for her 70 years service to the country!
