I am reading chapter 4 of my french reading book by George Simenon. I really enjoyed the series on TV so I decided to read the books in French, which I purchased from the Oxfam bookstore in the nearest city. I now have a small collection from the 'Maigret' series.
Although I probably only understand half of what I am reading at the moment, I am learning new vocabulary all the time as I go along. When I don't understand something, I look it up either in my dictionary, or on the google.
The more I read, the more and more the words are becoming familiar to me. I am still rubbish at speaking French, but better at understanding it and I can now write short essays in French. Hopefully I will get there in the end!
