I am very pleased to have passed my degree in French Language studies. I can now understand a great deal of the French language. I am not yet perfect in pronunciation of some of the words, but can speak in intelligible sentences in french! I would now probably get about in france on holiday quite well!

In english I am able to express myself well,  am able to write  understandable essays and blogs(articles), in both french and english.
I am probably capable of teaching both english and french to beginners level.

I can understand most french films, without using the subtitles!  I can read french books,  understand the news in french and on french TV, films and media programmes, but I am still learning things even after I have passed my course!

At the present I am a carer at home,  I came from a humble working class background so this is a big deal for me to have a degree!
In the future I would like to do something like giving simple language lessons, perhaps for children. I also believe in community work, contributing something to helping the community.

I am having a study break at the moment, but who knows I may return to the Open University to take a short course next year.

A big 'Thank you'  to the Open University for giving me the opportunity to have studied this degree!

Hi Gill, have you looked at TEFL?  I trained to do this a few years back, and it is something you can do working from home.  You may even be able to do an equivalent for teaching French?

I saw your other post about the UKG environmental back-tracking too - it's appalling!  I work for the Scottish Government in the climate change space and pleased we are still forging ahead with our commitments.  It's a shame the UKG are going against the SG principles and approving more licences to drill oil...in Scotland...!  Here's hoping they backtrack again and see the importance of limiting global warming...it's already getting way too close to being irreversible.

Hi Joanne,

Thank you for your comment. Still looking into TEFL and other options.

Yes It is sad to see the government backtracking like this like you I am very concerned about the environment.

Hope your studies are going well and that you succeed in your exams.

Best wishes

Gill
