Ann and Bob - a paradox

Visible to anyone in the world

I just stumbled across this paradox which was only discovered (or invented?) quite recently. It's called the Brandenburger-Keisler Paradox and I'm still trying to get my head round it.

Ann believes that Bob assumes that Ann believes that Bob’s assumption is wrong.

Does Ann believe that Bob’s assumption is wrong?

Ann believes that Bob has an assumption about her.

What is that belief? It is that she believes that he has an assumption that she believes his assumption to be wrong.

This is not evidence that she believes Bob’s assumption to be wrong. It is simply stating that she believes that he assumes her to hold an assumption about him.

I think the sentence could be rewritten as follows; Anne believes that Bob assumes that she believes his assumption to be wrong.

Written like this it is clear that she expresses no opinion as to the correctness or not as to his Bob’s belief.

Just my interpretation of a very interesting posting.!!!!
