I saw this photograph on a book cover. I just thought that it captures a deer in nature very well at this time of year.

I see them often, but never get close to them; they are cautious creatures. Sadly, in forestry near me a couple of poachers shot the female and left the fawn to fend for itself.

Hi Jim,
That is a sad tale about the fawn. I hope it survives ok. I have seen some smaller deers they sometimes graze alongside the sheep in the early morning mist. You have to get up early to see them!
They often wander into the cemetery near the field to graze too. You are right they are elusive creatures and you feel honoured when you meet one.
I expect you must see a lot of deer in Scotland. We have taken holidays in Scotland on the west coast. It is a beautiful country.
Best wishes Gill

Some years ago we have visited Dumfries and Galloway. It was very pretty.

Last December we went to Galloway International Dark Sky Park. It was dark, I mean really dark and you could see stars like you never saw before.
