I heard a good joke last week and thought it worth sharing.
Now it may be offensive to some people and women, in particular, but since I am
a woman, I can share it as the law has now decided what a woman is, and I meet
the criteria, biologically and legally, so I can say woman and speak as a woman
without fear of cancellation, censorship, being hounded by a screaming mob or
accusations of being anti-woman.
Isn’t it amazing that after centuries of technological advancement
that brought humanity to the peak of their known intellectual powers that, in
the 21st century, we needed a court to define what a woman is. For
centuries, men married women, women became mothers, had daughters who grew up
to be women too. John Lennon even wrote a song called Woman, so did Helen
Reddy, and all along no one even knew what a woman was, how did we ever manage
to get here without that knowledge!
And I just realised that although we know what a woman is,
do we know what a man is, are men now walking around not even knowing if they
are men or not, should we tell them or do you think we need another court
ruling? I mean I wouldn’t like to be presumptuous and say something like ‘a man
is an adult male person’, which is what I always believed but who knows? In
saying that, I had always believed that a woman was an adult female and it
turns out I was right, again! They could have just asked me and saved all that
time and money going to court.
And what about dogs and cats, especially cats? I think they might
need a court case too since there are furries out there claiming to be cats,
and cats can’t speak for themselves. How do they feel about others trying to
claim to be one of them, how are we to know? They might be highly offended but
hide it well since they always appear quite cool about everything. Although if
we keep going like this, we could be going to court forever having to re-define
every noun in the dictionary!!
But no sooner had the court made the decision than a
veritable spew fest of vitriol erupted against the court, the law in general, and
JK Rowling, in particular. Forgotten very quickly were the calls for inclusion
and diversity or to ‘be kind’ which was often asked for in regard to the entire
gender debate. There was little evidence
of kindness from the trans community to those with whom they disagree and all
the hate speech laws were rendered useless as the backlash continued with calls
to ‘bring back witch burnings – JK Rowling’ and threats to actually kill her
were ignored by a weak and incompetent government, too corrupt, cowardly and
dishonest to rein in the insanity they have helped to fuel time and again by
refusing to define what a woman is.
But, back to the joke, so I’ll have to issue a warning here
to the more ‘sensitive’ out there, if you are easily offended, like to parade
your self-righteousness, are a DEI hire, Emma Watson or a member of the Wookie
club, better to stop now and not be offended. I don’t know why these Star Wars
types take everything so personally, I used to be such a fan too. I blame Mark
Hamill, he’s been too long in Hollywood which has skewed his perspective on
reality and might be much better off in a galaxy far, far away. He could take
all the Wookie types with him too and they could look for a planet where either
no one is offended, or everyone is perpetually offended, and live out their
dreams!!
So, if you choose to read on, you are making a conscious
choice and know that you could be offended, so don’t come complaining about it
afterwards if you are, you made the choice and were forewarned!
