In a world full of wars, chaos, hate, uncertainty and confusion, what ought the believer in God be like?

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Thursday 30 April 2026 at 10:09

People of God are
those in the community who are
believers in God.
A person of good character, who Loves God ❤️ and who fears God,  because the fear of God leads to wisdom.

Someone who obeys God's commandments. Who will do no wrong to another person. They are generous and will help you out when the need arises.
Someone who is humble and not proud. They always show humility, not afraid to admit it if they get it wrong,  or make a mistake.

Someone who stands by you if you are in trouble or attacked, discriminated against or ignored.

They are active in the community helping out where they can,  with kindness towards everyone.

Having humility is about letting go of the need to be right all the time, to come out on top.To be  important.

Instead they just listen and they care about you. They are not haters but love others ❤️ like Jesus who said I did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill the law.
He also said "The law can be summed up. in Matthews gospel chapter 22.37- 40

37 Jesus said; “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

May we all be kind to each other in our communities!

Hi Gill,

This is a really beautiful reflection, and it quietly captures the heart of what it means to belong to God. What stands out most is the emphasis on humility and love, not just as ideas, but as something lived out in everyday moments.

It’s easy to talk about faith in big, visible ways, but you’ve pointed to something deeper: the small, faithful acts of listening, showing kindness, standing beside someone who stands alone. That’s where the presence of Christ is often most clearly seen.

I especially appreciate the reminder that humility isn’t weakness, but strength under control—the willingness to admit when we’re wrong, to put others before ourselves, and to let go of the need to always be right. That kind of spirit reflects Jesus more than any outward display ever could.

And the way you’ve brought it back to the words of Gospel of Matthew is powerful. Everything really does come back to love—loving God fully, and loving others sincerely. It sounds simple, but it shapes everything.

May we all keep growing into that kind of life—quietly faithful, deeply compassionate, and rooted in love.
