Our first Kiss

Opinion

It is strange to me to find that I don't know the word or expression that encompasses the feeling of first experiencing something. There are many people out there who know precisely the word, and many more who know the feeling.

Our first kiss or the roller-coaster ride; which came first? So sweet if those firsts happened at the exact same time. The bump of the wheels slamming left and right on the rails, the swoop of our tummies when we pass over the humps; the savoury-sweet bumps of our shoulders meeting and the thrill when we look at each other. If I have to bump shoulders with anyone I want it to be yours. Why does my shoulder keep moving away from yours? Bump go our foreheads and our faces slam together as our hands hold each others head. It isn't only our first kiss; it is the first firm agreement, and the first idea that we can do this again. It is the excitement of the roller-coaster; the emotional awkwardness of the moment before the kiss is given over to the increased difficulty to hold our bodies still. Breathless, it is a fools errand; the g-forces win but our anxiety is calmed. The shoulder clashes are warmer and softer and the bumps of the rails less brittle. The cacophony of discordant music from multiple sources is our first song and you will always smell of candy floss to me.
