Cancer and Mood Swings
It’s October 20, the morning began with a thick gloom in my head. That’s one of the hard things about cancer: friendly fire, you might say. While chemo works on the cancer, the brain can take a hit too, affecting mood and emotions.
That’s how I woke yesterday morning: feeling low in the middle of my happy life. As I always do, I prayed and asked God if He had a comforting word for me. I picked up my Bible, and it opened— at random—to Psalm 145.
A few verses ricocheted in my mind:
“The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
And the LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call out to Him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD preserves all who love Him.”
—Psalm 145:14, 18–20 (BSB)
I turned back to God and thanked Him for His tender care, reminded that He is covering my back.
