Visible to anyone in the world
Between 20-22 May 2026 the university ran a series of AL development events that addressed a range of topics. I found the time to attend three events; one that was related to AI, and two that were related to education and sustainability.
What follows are some notes about some of the resources that were shared during the sustainability sessions. Further blogs about sustainability can be viewed by following the sustainability tag.
Programme guidance
The first resource that was highlighted were the QAA subject benchmark statements. Since 2022’ statements have been extended to include education for sustainable development (ESD) goals.
Turning to module learning design, we were directed to the following article:
Astles, P. & Matthews, C. (2025) 'Communicating Sustainability Competencies: A Case Study of Sustainability and Learning Design'. In Education for Sustainable Development: The Contribution of Universities. pp.85-100. Available at: https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-031-86985-3_6

The QAA has produced the following 2023 project report: Education for Sustainable Development and Academic Quality: Principles and Processes for Higher Education Providers (PDF).
