These self-assessment quizzes will allow you to assess your readiness for embarking on studying each of the modules within the Physical Sciences qualification pathways. You are strongly encouraged to attempt the relevant quiz before registering to study each module.
If you are able to do all or most of the questions in a given quiz without too much trouble, then you are probably ready for the module in question (see the detailed comments provided with the answers for more guidance about this). Look at the module Study Guide (included below) for further advice and information about the module content and structure.
If you have difficulty in answering particular questions, you will find that that many of the answers provided give explanations of how to tackle the questions, as well as more general advice about the background knowledge and skills that we assume you would have.
If you find all or most of the questions in a given quiz difficult then you should think carefully about whether the module you have chosen is the right one for you at the moment. You may need to re-think your choice and attempt some other module(s) first to build up your knowledge and skills. Please discuss your options with a member of the Student Support Team.
A link to the equivalent preparation site for Mathematics and Statistics modules may be found at the bottom of this page. This includes material of relevance to each of the mathematics modules that form part of the Physical Sciences qualification pathways.
The links on this page are primarily intended for those who are not already OU students. If you are already an OU student, you can also find these quizzes on the Physical Science Subject website.
