The last few days

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Charlotte Evans, Friday, 6 Mar 2015, 16:37

So the last few days I have been up to my eyes and ears with information about Cleopatra, honestly I can think of worse things to be studying and I am learning a lot. I'm hoping to start my essay tomorrow and then move on to reading Dr. Faustus (that I'm not looking forward to as much).

Next week is my first tutorial as well which should be fun, I've found that I'm making quite a lot of notes on my studies (is there such a thing as too many notes?) I've also been playing around with the Assessment Calculator as I am determined to get a first, or I was until I found out that you need 85% or more with the Open University to get a first and that my essays will need to continuously be very highly marked (I better get back to writing then!)

Hopefully lots of revision and plenty of information will help, meanwhile this week I'm going to try and do a bit of light reading alongside Dr Faustus as well as moving but the OH has the week off so I'm also trying to juggle spending some time with him (although he is happy to sit and game.)

As I mentioned in my last blog post, my mum is also doing an Open University Course (Health and Social Care if anyone is curious) we have decided to get together once a week for study sessions and revision sessions which should be fun. Hopefully we can help each other out as although I don't mind being the only person in my house studying but it's nice to sit and talk to others about the stresses and pressures of university life and TMA's.

Starting University

Visible to anyone in the world

So here it is, the final few days before I start my B.A. in Humanities with the Open University. I'm quite excited about it all I must admit, I've set my little study up with computer and all my books, dvds and everything else which I think I might need. I've sat and read the  first chapter of the text book on Cleopatra and quickly flicked through the other books and had a quick look at the assignment booklet.

Student finance is sorted, I have all my modules, my computer is ready and now all I'm waiting for is to start. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit apprehensive about it but I'm more excited than anything. I'm looking forward to meeting new people, joining some of the societies and I've even been thinking about writing for the student newsletter (although maybe I should wait and see how much time I have free!)

There is no doubt that this is going to be difficult and I have no doubt that at some point I'll be questioning why I ever made this decision but I know that if I can grit my teeth and bear it, it'll all be worth it in the end.

I'm doing this at the same time as my mother, if all goes well we will be in the same graduation class and will walk on stage together to collect our degrees. We are going to be each others study companions and are planning on helping each other out (despite doing different degrees).

It officially starts next week, I'm already counting down the days in nervous anticipation and eager excitement.
