Course A219
I'm going to do option (b) for my next TMA...I have been doing a little work on it today picking my objects, Votive pieces and vases, although now i need to narrow down to 3 or 4 as TMA stipulates, not the 6 I hve at present. Then I have to see explain how it fits with themes and valuse of Homer's Iliad...Ummm I feel eaiser said than done. Oh well Tuesday will be start of pen to paper (well typing to a word doc)

my first tutorial tomorrow, although its not the first tutorial, it's just the first one I can make, quite looking forward to it because I'm really enjoy the A219 course. I can't quite believe how much I have enjoyed Homer!

Well my test blog worked so will try again.
I got my first TMA result back and I'm very happy with the mark!...however I'm not sure whether we can post the mark on the blog...I don't see why not but we can't on the forums so maybe we shouldn't on the blog post...so won't for now.
Does anyone out there know? please...

I've enjoyed the Iliad, or at least the parts I've read, maybe one day I will have time to read the whole thing but unfortunately not the time now...moved onto objects and to date I'm enjoying the course (shame work gets in the way...) waiting for first TMA mark to come back, I believe some have had their results already although not from my tutor group...I wonder if I can blog my result? I know they don't like you to on the forums...

TMA1 due to be submitted tomorrow...which isn't a problem as I've done it. Not quite sure how good it is, but hey ho its done so only 4 more to go...which doesn't sound too bad at all.
PS got 100% in first CMA. Sounds good but the task was slightly below 11+ standard and that being kind to it. pretty pointless if you ask me.

Finished my first draft of TMA1 yesterday. Going to leave it a couple of days, I have plenty of time before Friday deadline...
Still ahead of the game so to speak re the course work, which is good as i'm sure work comitments will take up some of my spare time in the near future...if only i didn't have to work!

Back from holiday today, (only done about 2hours study in the whole time I was away!) alos feel jet lagged which isn't much fun. Now have to try and get my head around the first TMA...

Have downloaded CD1 (which is needed for wk3) onto my iPod for holiday and it hasn't downloaded in order and can't get it to play in order on the damn thing...ahhh
Hopefully get Cheryl to sort it!!!!!

Well, didn't manage to do any studies yesterday (officially first day of course!) as Pete came over, unexpected to do the pointing around the eves, so had to help...scaffold and all.
However I am ahead of the game. finished weeks 1&2, so the start of the week which includes the first TMA. It may sound good that I'm so far ahead but with holiday looming still feel a little stressed with missing first tutorial.

Sorry Nigel, i mixed up your surname with your first name...
I have now started the course...I've had a scan of the Assignment Book, which is quite straight forward (apart from the TMAswhich look a little scary...hopefully it will become clear as I work through the module). I've also had a look a the the Course Introduction booklet , which is basically the same as the Openlean 'intro to the classical world' - already read essay 1 during the openlean course. However I have watch the DVD 'Course introduction' same again as openlearn...
I'm waffling on now so i'm going!
Time to start Block 1!

Quite exciting as study calendar and all resources now available on the site...but no Tutor yet!
The Scottish guys have had theirs for a few days, I've posted on the forum about lack of tutor...lack of replies too...oh well I guess we will get one assigned in due course.
I quite like to know when the first tutorial is. However I plan is to start this weekend...already done most of the introduction when i did the openlearn 'intro to classical world' so already ahead (slightly).

Course website opens Wednesday...I would quite like to finish reading the first 4 books of the Odyssey (both versions I have Lattimore & Shewring) by then. I haven't started block 1 yet although I probably ought too with Holiday looming. Down in Southampton tonight so think i will just stick with the Odyssey today.
Cheryl has already started block 1 which I have to say is well organised especially for her!!!

By chance I was looking at the Student home page and we now have the date for the first TMA, fortunately due at the end of week 3 which means I can get it sorted in draft before I go on holiday and then finish once i'm back...or that is my plan at 8:42 tonight.
PS have just got Walter Shewring translation of The Odyssey, a different take to that of Lattimore.i.e. I can understand what is going on. Hopefully it will help!

Books and CD/DVDs have arrived...I've had a skip through the intro book and have covered most of it with the openlearn course which is useful, so it Block 1 (but not tonight!) May read a bit more of The Odyssey first. Plus finished reading Chapter 2 of BHAG the "Dark Age". So i feel ahead of the game.
Looking forward to getting the timetable too on the 21st then i will hopefully get myself sorted for TMA1 before my holiday!!!!

as per last post...I hope the books arrive soon as I really want to get started because I am away on holiday for the first 2 week of October, which just happens to coincide with the first 2 weeks of the course - not the best of timings ...Additionally I also notice from the ebook of block one (kindly sent to me by Cheryl) that the first TMA is due at week 2.
This is all going to be very stressful as I know nothing about Homer!!! and need really to get the TMA done before i go away...
Asking for an extension maybe a way forward...That will be a good introduction to my new tutor!

I notice that my books and stuff are at Loughborough...hopefully they will arrive soon.
I notice also that some folks on the course have received theirs today, so i guess that is promising!

The books and 'other stuff' posted, hopefully they will arrive early next week, I want to get started because;
a) quite looking forward to studying again
and
b) away for the 1st two weeks of October so need to get ahead of the game!
I have been reading a little of BHAG Chapter 2...not all of it yet but i will finish tomorrow (i think), I have learnt things just from the limited amount i have read so far!!!!
