A question about the EMA
Dear Module Team
Please clarify for me.
I quote from the information below. Are you saying that the Reading component counts for 10% of the Reading/Writing EMA and the writing component counts for 90% of the Reading/Writing EMA? So the 25 marks awarded in part A are not weighted the same as the 75 marks awarded in part B. This may have been the case in the assignments and I didn't notice. I am more than a little surprised at this.
To be clear: for the Reading/Writing component of the EMA, the comprehension is worth 10% and the writing is worth 90%. The marks awarded in each section, 25 in comprehension and 75 in writing, are weighted completely differently in each section. Scoring 25 marks in comprehension will gain 10% and scoring 75 marks in writing will gain 90%, scoring less will gain proportionately less.
I ask because I wish to allocate my time in proportion to the marks, no not marks, but now I understand, I will allocate my time in proprotion to the percentage gained. In other words, I will allocate 90% of my resources to the writing and 10% to the comprehension and ignore the natural tempation to use the number of marks awarded as a criterion. Have I got it now?
