Have you ever had difficulty booking two seats at a theatre when selecting from a row with three empty seats? The computer is programmed not to allow a single seat to remain on its own. Here is the solution.
Book a single seat from the row of three, not the middle one obviously. Put it in your basket and go back to book again. There are now two seats empty and not three as before. Hopefully these are the seats you wish to book. Book them and go to the basket. Now this bit is important. Delete the single seat booking.
