Words in German are such great fun. It you want some fun find out about the hat of the captain of the Danube river boat, it's worth the effort.
My efforts are concentrating on the next assignment. I am transcribing the assessment audio clip into its three component parts. I would be lost however without the questions themselves, especially w.r.t. the names of towns.
Another word I am having difficulty with is one of those great German words, made up of two parts. I found it via Mr Google when all my usual dictionaries failed me. The word is Sparangebot.
I now know that das Angebot is an offer, this is in all dictionaries. But spar was more tricky. I think it is an adjective but derived from the verb sparen - to save. In The Big Yellow book of German Verbs sparen is listed. Under the listing it includes the Command spar(e)!
So, there it is. Was it worth it? Yes it is.
