The Pear of Anguish

Visible to anyone in the world

The "Pear of Anguish," often portrayed as a brutal medieval torture device, is largely a myth. Although depicted in museums and literature as a tool of unimaginable cruelty, historical evidence suggests it was likely not used for torture at all. Instead, this object was either a misunderstood surgical tool or even a shoe-extender. The myth of the "Pear of Anguish" exemplifies how history can be distorted by sensationalism.
