Avoiuli and Turaga Nation

Visible to anyone in the world

Avoiuli is a constructed language created by the Turaga Nation on Pentecost Island, Vanuatu, in the 1980s. Chief Viraleo Boborenvanua designed its script based on traditional sand patterns. The Turaga Nation, founded in the 1970s, focuses on preserving traditional customs and environmental conservation. Avoiuli is used to document cultural stories, songs, and ceremonial practices. The creation of a digital font has broadened its accessibility and use in various creative projects.
