Verbal Football

Opinion

I might offer a piece of writing to be used as a verbal football. I could offer the bare bones of a scene and allow other people to add elements to it as they see fit. 'Hey, you, Yes you. May I take a moment of your time? I wonder, would you like to describe the characters in this scene? Ah, I see, yes. Perhaps your friend would like to contribute some speech. You would. What's that? I see. Somewhat fruity, wouldn't you say? Lascivious! Yes, perhaps the scene doesn't call for lusty interaction. Never mind. Thanks, anyway.'

A lot of people are really shy about writing something and showing it to the public. It takes practice to get good at making a fool of yourself and not caring, or is it noticing? After a while, I think we improve yet I know we must be patient and not expect to be able to just trot out a thousand words of wonder.

Hmmm. What to do. I want to help people to come out of their shell but they are not tortoises tempted by lettuce, and if you poke a snail in the eye, it doesn't come out for ages. Tricky!
