Starting MA Philosophy

Visible to anyone in the world

There is a running joke that I run on fumes, through solely consumption of caffeine and nicotine. My coworkers don’t know that this isn’t a joke. I’ve been a software engineer for 15 years, and an OU student since 2014, achieving my Bachelor’s degree (Open) in 2022, and now the next pursuit is MA Philosophy.

My whole life I’ve asked questions and thought about things literally no one does, only to find out that these ideas have already been covered by brilliant minds and expanded on even more. I’m excited to join like minds and create academic peers in my journey.

My company are one of the earliest adopters of AI within programming, and the pace at which we are moving is worrisome but exciting. I’m hoping that philosophical study and research will help me establish new ways of thinking about AI and its use, and I hope that my technical background will bring something fresh to the academic world of philosophy, as I imagine it’s a rare mix.
